Here you will find the answers to our most frequently asked questions...

DO YOU ALLOW VISITORS?

ALL VISITS/PICK UPS MUST BE SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE.  Puppies who are under the age of 7 weeks cannot be handled  by outside visitors.  All puppies must have their first round of shots prior to any visits.  We are more than happy to provide buyers with videos and picture updates.  Our dogs and puppies are cared for within our personal home and yard.  We will not accept drop in visitors.  Please be respectful of our policy.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION AND PURCHASE PROCESS?

Upon breeding and birth, all those within our wait lists will be the first to be notified of breedings, pregnancy updates, litter sizes, sexes, and colors available.  These puppies are available on a first come first serve basis prior to being advertised as available to the public.  Once your deposit has been received and you have selected your puppy, you will be sent a signed Puppy Contract which will serve as your receipt/proof of payment and will be honored as such.  Your Puppy Contract will outline all health guarantees and any additional Breeder/Buyer information discussed will be noted.  Along with your Puppy Contract, you will receive a very detailed email listing all products you may need to for ear postings, feedings, care, etc and where to purchase.   Upon final payment and pickup/shipment, you will receive a complete packet with a copy of Breeder/Buyer Contract, Health Records, AKC Registration Packet, Free 30 Day Pet Insurance Certificate, Microchip Registration Information and a Welcome Home Puppy Bag.

WHAT IS THE DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO RESERVE A PUPPY?

A $750 deposit and signed puppy contract are required to reserve a puppy.  We do not accept payment prior to actual birth of any litter as this gives us time to determine sexes, colors, and exact litter sizes.  If all puppies are not spoken for with deposit holds within the first 4 weeks by our wait lists and inquiries, they will be advertised as available to the public.  Deposits can be made via Zelle to the address jnrobino@gmail.com or via Venmo to @blueskyedobermans.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?

Our prices vary from litter to litter and under certain circumstances, from puppy to puppy.  Prices range from $2,750 - $4,000.  These prices are dependent on the pedigree of the particular dam/sire pairing and certain qualities of individual puppies.

Other factors which can also affect the pricing of our puppies: Multiple Puppy/Return Family Discount; Limited/Full AKC Registration; Natural Ears/Tail

Shipping/Transport is not included within the price listed above.

DO YOU SELL PUPPIES WITH FULL REGISTRATION AKA BREEDING RIGHTS?

As breeders, we have specific criteria to which we follow when approving Full Registration.  Only a select few, if any puppies at all will leave us with a Full Registration.  By default, we do not routinely sell puppies under Full Registration.

With Limited Registration, your puppy is in fact still able to be registered with “papers”, however any puppies produced by a dog with Limited Registration will NOT be accepted by the AKC.

DO YOU SHIP PUPPIES AND WHAT IS THE COST?

Shipping/transport is available upon request.  If you are unable to pick up your puppy locally with us, depending on your location, shipping costs via air travel or ground shipment range from $450-$1,000.  These costs include the required veterinarian health certifications, flight/shipping costs, and shipping crate/supplies.

CAN YOU HOLD A PUPPY FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME?

We understand our forever homes may have specific reasons for needing their puppy to be held for extended periods of time, be it travel plans, vacations, etc.  We can hold your puppy for an agreed upon period of extended time, should you need.  There are certain limitations on the time we can hold a puppy, but we are extremely flexible and are more than willing to work with our forever homes on these issues.

*Boarding/holding fees of $175/wk or $25/day will apply.

DO YOUR PUPPIES COME WITH TAILS DOCKED & EARS CROPPED?

We strongly believe in aiding our new puppy parents by having all surgical procedures done prior to release.  All  puppies will have their tails docked within days of birth by our licensed veterinarian.  We DO NOT dock tails ourselves.  All puppies will also have their ears cropped between 7-9 weeks by our specialized veterinarian.  If you would prefer your puppy's ears left uncropped/natural, payment in full for your puppy is required before the litter's scheduled crop surgery and must be discussed at the time of reservation.

DO YOUR PUPPIES COME WITH DEW CLAWS REMOVED?

As breeders, it has been a routine practice to remove this “extra” toe just after birth during the tail dock.

After much research and experience within the breed we have decided against the practice of routinely removing the dewclaws of our puppies.  We have come to believe removal of the dewclaw does in fact attribute to a weakened pastern creating excessive pressure in the wrist joints and very likely contributing to the development of carpal arthritis.

CAN YOU TEACH EAR POSTING METHODS?

Upon selection of your puppy, a very detailed email will be sent to you with all products used for our ear posting methods.  Upon pick up of your puppy, we are more than happy to discuss any and all questions regarding ear postings as well as preform tutorials.  We are more than happy to provide extended help should you need on your ear posting journey until your puppy's ears are standing.

WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR DOGS AND PUPPIES?

Our puppies are fed a raw food diet from introduction to food at 3 weeks to 8 weeks then transitioned to Victor High Pro Plus (Teal Bag)/Multi Pro (Yellow Bag) along with additional supplementation.  Since our Dobermans are like our children, we have put a lot of effort and time researching the best options in nutrition.  Our adult Dobermans are fed a mixture of raw chicken, beef, bones, organs, fermented vegetables and bone broth along with Victor High Pro Plus (Teal Bag)/Multi Pro (Yellow Bag) with added supplementation regimens.  We firmly believe this is the best diet for our dogs and have done extensive research to back it up.  While our dams are pregnant and lactating, their intake increases.  While lactating and nursing, they are fed 2X daily raw food as well as a supply of unlimited Victor High Pro Plus mixed with goat milk along with other supplements.  Our puppies are nursed and also supplemented with puppy formula to insure all nutritional needs are being met.  Once weaning begins, our puppies are fed a raw food diet as well, ground up prior to feedings.  We transition our puppies onto a mix of Victor High Pro Plus (Teal Bag) and Multi Pro (Yellow Bag) before they are placed in their forever homes.  We have experienced first hand, the benefits of adding large portions of raw feeding into our adult dog's diets.  For more information on the raw food diet, see links and articles posted on the “Diet” Page.

ARE YOUR DOGS SHOW STANDARD?

Most of our Dobermans are too large at adult age to be considered show standard, however we do have pairings who have produced Conformation show standard puppies.  Our main goals in breeding are for longevity, health, sound temperament and overall top quality pet/family Dobermans. Our focus lies primarily in providing a dog that is trustworthy around other pets, young children and family members while still maintaining the Doberman’s protector instinct and dominant look.

ARE YOUR DOGS HEALTH TESTED?

Yes, all of our adult dogs actively breeding have been DNA health tested for DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), vWD (von Willebrand's Disease) & DCM (Dilated Cardiomypathy).

ARE YOUR DOGS EUROPEAN OR AMERICAN?

We believe in diversity within the breed.  We have American and European lines.  Some litters may be full American or full European or they may be a hybrid.  Blending the European and American pedigrees through breeding enhance the favorable qualities of each, producing well rounded, quality puppies, suitable for a variety of household dynamics.

DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT PLANS?

While we do not accept payments on any puppy prior to birth, we do accept incremental payments throughout the time your puppy is still with us.  These payments can be made via Zelle to the address jnrobino@gmail.com or via Venmo to @blueskyedobermans.  When a payment is received, a receipt is printed and added to your puppy file.

DO YOU PROVIDE TRAINING?

We do not offer personalized training for individual puppies at this time, however, depending on your location, we may be able to recommend trainers we have experience with.
